ATTENDANCE & REWARDS

The School Council, comprising every child in the school, has a voice when it comes to making decisions that affect all of them. Due to a decline in school attendance and punctuality over this year, last year, the Whole School Council (all children) were asked to discuss how they wanted to be rewarded for 100% attendance and punctuality in order to improve both. They discussed a number of options which included: a fun and games session one lunchtime a week, non-school uniform, golden time, a points scheme where they collect points for 100% attendance and punctuality and can swap these for prizes at a ‘shop’ and time with Max. The most popular idea across the school was having GOLDEN TIME for children with 100% attendance and punctuality with those that do not have 100% having to work, to catch up on learning time.

Attendance and punctuality will be monitored by the Communication Team over this time; they are going to be working on other ways to improve attendance too.

The table below shows the attendance and punctuality reward period and the Golden Time reward session. Golden Time will be for 30 minutes at the end of the school day, activities will be arranged for pupils during this time and Max will join the children, as long as his attendance has been good too!

There will be times when children are ill but for most pupils this will only mean missing out on the reward a few times over the year. This needs to be explained to pupils by parents. It is important for pupils to know that we cannot always achieve everything.

The School Council (whole school) will be reviewing the current system this term and the Communication Team will feedback their findings.

PUPILS ACHIEVING 100% ATTENDANCE OVER THE WHOLE SCHOOL YEAR 2018-19 WILL BE REWARDED WITH A GOLD ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE AND STICKER AND A SPECIAL FUN DAY IN JULY 2019 – DETAILS TO BE AGREED WITH THE SCHOOL COUNCIL
